Years playing: Started playing trombone at age 12, got my first bass at age 14.

Why did you start playing: Growing up on the south side of Chicago I was in love with R&B, the blues and the funk of Motown. I was always drawn to the low register rumblings of the bass. I'm one of the few bass guys who can't play guitar. I've just always and only wanted to play bass.

Equipment: '87 Steinberger w/transtrem, '76 Fender Jazz Bass and Carvin BB75 5- string w/custom quilted maple top.
2- Hartke XL 410, Kern IP-777 pre-amp w/ Carvin DCM 1500 power amp, Carvin AC 120, Xwire X905 digital wireless system and a Korg tuner. Also numerous Crown, Carvin and Ashley gear from previous bands used for rehearsing and rentals.

Major influences: James Jamerson, Will Lee, Jimi Hendrix, Leland Sklar, Phil Hipskin, Tony Levin, Timothy B. Schmidt, Robben Ford, Billy Sheehan, Alexis Sklarevski......... and many many more.

Favorite Bands: Steely Dan, Trapeze, Faith Band, Sad Boy Trouble, Boz Scaggs, Joe Cocker, The Beatles, The Eagles, Poco, Robben Ford, The Tubes, Southside Denny, Johnny Winters, Keb Mo, Why on earth, John Mayall, Pat Travers, John Mayer, Splixx, Duke Jupiter....... and many many more.

Musical career highlights: Getting to open shows for and meeting, Pat Travers, Rick Derringer, Gary Richtrath, Cub Koda, Quiet Riot and The Grass Roots.

Previous Bands: Ukiah, Stark Raven, Illegal Procedure and Misspent Youth

Most embarrasing show moment: Early '80's on stage with Stark Raven at the "Turning Point" in Rochester In. Opening song 2nd set and we're starting to play Twisted Sister's "I like to Rock" (come on it's the 80's). The songs in A, my first note is an A and the moment I touch the string it breaks. I had never broken a string on stage before or since for that matter and by the time I figured out how to play it on my remaining 3 strings the song was over. The crowds into me struggling my ass off and as I duck into the dressing room to change the string, Mike Jacobs and Rick and Todd Huffer do an outstanding job of covering for me until I can get back to the stage.
